Please be sure to welcome guest preacher Rev. Dr. Brent Laytham. Rev. Dr. Laytham is a United Methodist pastor from the North Carolina Annual Conference and dean and professor of theology at the Ecumenical Institute of St. Mary’s Seminary and University (http://www.stmarys.edu/ecumenical-institute/) in Baltimore.
Pastor Mark is away until November 26. Rev. Travis Knoll at William Watters UMC (http://www.williamwatters.com/) is available for pastoral emergencies.
Our first Fifth Sunday Christian Education event will be November 30 at 11:00 in the sanctuary. Pastor Mark will lead a session on Art and Christian Faith. All adults and youth are encouraged to attend. If you don’t regularly attend Sunday School, this is a great opportunity to try something new!
Next Sunday, November 30, we will have a potluck after Sunday School. Drinks and dessert will be provided. Please bring a dish to share.
Our winter tea is December 6 from 1:00-3:00 p.m.. Please see Kathy Johnson for tickets or more information.
Leadership Days, offered by the Baltimore-Washington Conference, will be offered Winter 2015. Each day includes a keynote speaker and workshops concerning a common theme. Dates for the upcoming Leadership Days are January 24, February 21, February 28, March 7, and March 15. The Baltimore Region’s Day is February 28. Talk to Pastor Mark for more information.
Advent devotionals are now available online. There is a devotion for each Sunday in Advent as well as Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the first Sunday after Christmas. Follow the link (http://centreumc.blogspot.com/p/advent-2014-devotions.html) for more information.
The Food Pantry continues to need baked beans, canned fruit, tuna, canned pasta with sauce, mashed potatoes, syrup, and pancake mix.
