Easter Life
If I asked you to dream big, to imagine a future for Centre in 3 years, what is the biggest, wildest, craziest thing you would think of? Would it be Sunday School classrooms full of kids? Congregational participation in mission trips? Worship attendance of 200 a week? Weekly community outreach events?
God does not just call us to come to church. God invites us into God’s mission, and God gives us vision, insight, for what we should be doing together as God’s church. Our dreams, our imaginations, are so important for this work. What may seem crazy now could be just what God has in mind for Centre.
Right now we have a Vision Prayer Group that meets twice a month to seek insight into God’s plans for Centre’s future. We meet on the 2^nd and 4^th Sunday right after Sunday School. And in this group we dream, imagine, and bounce ideas off each other, while we pray. It’s exciting! It’s energizing!
But we need your help. We need to know your dreams and your visions for Centre’s future. So drop me a note, send me an email (mailto:centreumc@gmail.com?subject=Dreaming%20for%20Centre’s%20Future&body=In%203%20years%2C%20I%20want%20Centre%20to%20be%20a%20church%20where%3A) , or put a card in the offering plate that says, “In 3 years, I want Centre to be a church where ___________.” Fill in the blank with your dreams, your ideas. Think big. Be specific! Dare to dream for God’s future here.
It’s Easter season now, the great fifty days between Easter Sunday and Pentecost. It’s a time to savor new life. It’s a time to remember that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the start of God’s new creation—and that we, as Christ’s followers, have work to do. It’s a time to look for ways Christ wants to breathe new life into our church and our lives and our whole world.
Christ is risen! Alleluia! Where is his resurrection leading us? Where will we find new life in God together?

Psalm 114: This month Pastor Mark is challenging us to memorize as much of Psalm 114 as we can. Here is the New Revised Standard Version translation:
When Israel went out from Egypt, the house of Judah from a people of a strange language,
Judah became God’s sanctuary, Israel his dominion.
The sea looked and fled; Jordan turned back.
The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.
Why is it, O sea, that you flee? O Jordan, that you turn back?
O mountains, that you skip like rams? O hills, like lambs?
Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,
who turns the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of water.

in downtown Bel Air. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Each Wednesday Pastor Mark leads a Bible study at 10 a.m. Starting March 30, the Bible study will be reading the shorter letters of Paul together, beginning with Philemon.
Pastor Mark is looking for new readers for Sunday morning worship. Readings are always provided in advance of the service. Please consider contributing to our worship services by reading Scripture. Talk to Pastor Mark for more details.
Newsletter Deadline: If there is something you would like included in the February newsletter, please submit it to Pastor Mark by April 21.
Centre’s Finances
Changes in Reporting: This year we are only reporting undirected giving, rather than total giving. While Centre is grateful for and needs all offerings that come in, in most cases only undirected giving may be used for the day-to-day expenses of the congregation. Directed giving allows our church to pursue special projects or fund one-time expenses. Undirected giving pays the light bill and gets the bathrooms cleaned.
Also, the totals show receipts, the budget, and the amount ahead/behind up to the week when the newsletter is published. Through March 20, therefore, Centre’s giving is $1,213.60 less than what has been budgeted for the same time.
If you have questions about financial stewardship at Centre or about Centre’s budget, please speak to John Griffin, Finance Chair, or to Pastor Mark.
