The food pantry this week needs: baked beans, rice, pancake mix, syrup, peas, canned fruit, and mashed potatoes.
Youth group kicks off this Sunday, on September 13, from 5-7pm at Jarretsville UMC. We will provide a pizza dinner for the kickoff. All youth are invited. Please tell Pastor Mark or Nicky Barthel if you or your youth will need a ride.
Several of Centre’s members enjoyed a Lenten study last spring using a book by British scholar and bishop N.T. Wright. This fall, Wright will be in Baltimore for a 2-day conference at St. Mary’s Seminary and University. On November 18 Wright will give a free lecture at the seminary at 7:00 p.m. On November 19 Wright will lead an all-day event that includes lectures, lunch, and breakout session (Pastor Mark is leading one of the breakout sessions!). FCCAU/Welcome One Shelter is hosting a fundraiser bowling event on October 24. It would be great if Centre could send one or two teams of 5 to participate. Talk to Pastor Mark for more details.
Charge Conference is next Tuesday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Emory UMC in Street. All members of the church council are expected to attend, but the conference is open to all. Talk to Pastor Mark for more information.
The men of the church are invited to come together for a time of study and fellowship each Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the New Room.
The women of the church are invited to come together for a time of study and fellowship each Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Kathy Johnson’s house. The women’s group will begin meeting this fall with a potluck supper on September 22.
